About Us...

Maeve Smith, Founder and formulator of Natural Wisdom Organic Skincare.


I have always had a passionate interest in health, organic agriculture and alternative technology. 
I founded Natural Wisdom in 2005 after training for 4 years to become a registered homeopath.
In 2006 I spent 3 months in Ecuador South America with my husband and our young family volunteering on an organic farm and completing my clinical training.

Whilst researching and preparing for our trip into the Amazon jungle with 3 young children in tow I decided to make our own insect repellent, I had already taken a couple of courses in making natural skincare as part of my Homeopathic practice so I wasn't a complete stranger to the art and science.
My daughter and husband have such reactive, sensitive skin the chemical mosquito sprays would be out of the question, making them myself was the only way I could guarantee the safety and effectiveness of the ingredients during our extended stay.

My early adventures into formulating skincare were such a success that on my return to the UK I continued to research the art and science of making skincare.

During the following year I worked on the project full time, researching ingredients and different manufacturing techniques.

I eventually  settled on the little known process of 'cold blending'. Superior because it removes the need for heating ingredients to high temperatures and also means that chemical processing ingredients, wax emulsifiers and refined oils are no longer necessary.

Cold blending useing cold extracted ingredients is the only way to make really effective superfood skincare, abundant in effective bioactives such as Vitamins, Phytosterols, Omega's and Antioxidants without the cheap weak fillers and nonsense ingredients so common in conventional skincare.

My passion for nutrition and indigenous medicine are behind my inspiration for my organic skincare recipes. My mission is to create the skincare you would love to make for yourself. No bulking fillers, no water, no wax emulsifiers, no alcohol, no silicones, parabens or anything even vaguely unatural. Made from 100% natural wisdom...so you don't need to worry.
